New Drone Business Offers Robust Aerial Services
From helping evaluate energy systems, railways, dams, roofs and much more, two youthful entrepreneurs are flying their way to success in a drone service business called Ventured Skies.
They provide a range of services using a DJI 3- Enterprise drone. They specialize in aerial inspection, imaging and data collection for private businesses, government agencies and nonprofits.
“If it’s above ground and you have difficulty seeing it or checking on how it’s performing, we can help,” said co-owner Adin Petoskey. “We can help with assessments for property acquisitions, environmental assessments of vegetation or shoreline stabilization on lakes, information needed for most any kind of development – our work can also help understand and mitigate safety threats; the possibilities are endless. We bring precision to our work – like seeing how many threads are left on a bolt that’s hundreds of feet in the air!”
Adin and partner Thais Grays bring a wealth of expertise to their new venture.
They secured their Drone Pilot Certification together through Northwestern Michigan College (NMC). They are skilled with unmanned aerial systems and the use of ground control stations and communications links to support both military and civilian sectors. They have multiple certifications from the FAA Unmanned Safety Institute as well as OSHA/Click Safety.
In short, they know what they are doing.

“The sky is literally the limit for Adin and Thais,” said Venture North Business Development Specialist Betsy Evans. “There are so many opportunities for the business to grow in northwest Michigan!”
“We see more and more commercial opportunities for our drone services,” Adin said. “We can’t wait to see how we can support local industries and enterprises, ranging from the maritime industry to agricultural adaptations to even the Traverse City Horse Show.”
Adin points out their range of service options that can encompass flight time, photography, videography, content editing, 3-D model, topographic maps and large-scale inspection capacity – ideal for construction, land surveying and infrastructure.
