TC Floral Co. Brand Blossoms at 2025 Cherry Festival

After acquiring the Blossom Shop over two months ago, owner Angelica Hutchins embarked on a re-branding strategy for the 24-year old business beginning with a new company name, TC Floral Co.

She introduced the name on the floral arrangements for the recent Royal Fashion Show and Cherry Luncheon where “glamour met cherries” with the National Cherry Queen, her court and special guests hitting the runway in a head-turning event.

Owner Angie Hutchins poses amid the bounty offered at the Blossom Shop - now TC Floral Co. - while employees Patty Majsiack and Lisa Drouillard put the blooms to beautiful use in one-of-a-kind arrangements!

“Branding is much more than a new name and logo,” said Hutchins.  “It’s about how we present ourselves and meet the needs of our customers.  It’s about our values and creating awareness of what we hold important – providing a comfortable, convenient and homegrown approach for satisfying our customers 100 percent of the time.  We want everyone to know that we are imbedded in the Traverse City region. The Royal Fashion Show was the perfect place to begin to launch our brand and story.”

“Angelica sets a high bar for entrepreneurism by understanding how important a brand can be to growth and in going about re-branding in a comprehensive way,” said Laura Galbraith, president of Venture North that provided capital to help with Hutchin’s acquisition of the business.

Working with the local firm Juniperfolk Designs, owned by Claire Grucella, the new logo will be followed by a fresh, new website with links, use of social media and merchandise to support brand recognition in a fun, colorful and practical way. Hutchins will also re-fresh the store, located at 1319 W. Airport Road, with bright, new paint and furnishings with a focus on an inviting, comfortable and pleasant atmosphere for customers needing arrangements for any purpose (as well as a cup of coffee).  Hutchins has added chocolates from renowned chocolatier Grocer’s Daughter

Plans for the future include a branded coffee line, mugs, personal care items, candles and more.

“As we roll out our name change, we will emphasize the values we hold in serving and celebrating the Traverse City area,” says Hutchins.  “They include integrity, teamwork, service and quality - exceeding customer objectives.  And we want customers to know that their purchases often support local growers because we buy flowers and plants locally from over 17 area farms.”

“It’s a critically important part of our brand,” Hutchins says.  “We need to build support for customer awareness of area growers.  We don’t need to be reliant on out-of-state or out-of-country suppliers for the beauty we share and the memories we help create.”

“This is going to be both fun and rewarding for us and for the people we serve!” she adds.
