There’s an old saying that goes, “you gotta spend money to make money”, but sometimes you have to spend money to save money. One of the best ways a small business can save money is on its energy costs, so Venture North partners with Traverse City Light & Power to offer a 0% loan and a rebate program for TCLP customers in good standing.
The latest clients to enroll in the program are downtown restaurant Amical, who qualified for a $10,000 loan to upgrade the lighting in their dining room, and Three West LLC, a commercial real estate company, who qualified for a $9,455 loan to upgrade the lighting throughout their entire new building on Eighth Street.
LED lights use about half the energy of traditional fluorescent or incandescent options, which translates to substantial cost savings. And because LEDs can aim light in a specific direction, they reduce wasted light and energy, particularly in a restaurant or office setting.
“We found out about the energy efficiency rebate from Keen Technical Solutions just before the move to our new building,” says Kevin Endres at Three West LLC, “This turned out to be a great enhancement to our new space, because all the lights were these 1990s version fluorescents. Without the program, we wouldn’t have been able to replace every single light in the space.”
Three West started in 2007 and over 10 years outgrew their space at Copper Ridge. They just moved into their new home on Eighth Street this month, after a spring remodel. “Our new home gives us 100 percent visibility, and we’re hoping this new location will serve our agents and our clients better.”
Several area businesses have cut their utility costs, reduced maintenance and improved their workplaces through Venture North’s Energy Efficiency Loan Fund. Can your business benefit?
